The B.A.T.Moms Story
I started this blog as in support of breastfeeding moms who travel, regardless of reason. Breastfeeding on it's own is difficult, but when a mom is away from her baby, a committment to breastfeeding and pumping is taken to a whole new level.
How will I get enough milk? When will I pump? Where will I pump? How should I store my milk?
The B.A.T.Moms initiative is to help raise awareness for the needs of a breastfeeding, traveling, mom, and calls on major hotel brands to take twofold action.
One, we'd like to see that these hotels pledge to always keep a small inventory of mini fridges with freezer units that they can install in guestrooms as needed. Major hotel chains spend millions on keeping a consistent brand image, even going to the extent of ensuring that all the hotels smell the same. In comparison, procurement of these fridges is going to cost a fraction.
Second, we'd like to see additional training and education for staff so that they understand the sensitivity of the breastfeeding issue. Moms deserve greater respect for wanting to give their baby what's best, and shouldn't be disparaged for doing so.
